This event is a members only day trip to the Amethyst Mine Panorama that perhaps many of you have visited and enjoyed over the years.

Event is now Sunday, Jun 28th, 2026 and not Saturday.

Costs:
- There is a entrance fee of $12.50 (includes tax) payable at the mine.
- Amethyst you collect is $6.00 (plus tax) per pound.
- There are no entrance fees at Diamond-Willow or Blue Points.
Event Guides and Participants should use the Event Guide and Hiking Checklist to prepare in advance and identify Guides for the event.
Event difficulty: Easy
Event will proceed, rain or shine.
Event is a collecting event. Bring clothing, collecting tools, eye protection, gloves, good footwear.
Bring your own food and water.

By 8am: Meet at Terry Fox Lookout. Quick meeting to determine cars, drivers and passengers. Steve will be there by 7:30am. Come earlier if you need to sign up for a membership or looking to car pool. The road into all three mines is suitable for any type of car or truck.
Depart by 8:15a. Estimated travel time of 45m. Hwy 11/17 north/left onto East Loon Lake Road then north/right Bass Lake Road to mine site. Signage is very good right to the mine site and there is a lookout for photographs.
9:00am: Arrive at the Amethyst Mine Panorama. Please assemble at Amethyst Mine Main Office and pay your admission fee.
9:00am: Tour starts. After tour you may need to clean your samples at the provided tables, brushes and water.
12:00 noon Departure time to Diamond Willow. Estimated travel time is 25m. Take Bass Lake Rd to Trans-Canada Hwy/ON-11/ON-17 in Loon. 12 min (7.1 km). Turn left onto Trans-Canada Hwy/ON-11/ON-17. 5 min (6.3 km) to Pearl. Drive to your destination.
Diamond Willow and Blue Points share the same trench. We will arrive at Diamond Willow at 12:30pm and stay to 2:45pm.
Travel to Blue Points is minimal (5m) and we'll stay there from 3:00pm to 4:15.
5:00pm: Arrive back at Terry Fox Lookout.
